The AFRICA DIGITAL GOVERNANCE SUMMIT (ADGS) is a flagship Continental Program hosted by Global Shapers Port-Harcourt Hub – in collaboration with Global Shapers Hubs in Nigeria, and the African Region – which brings together innovative thinkers, industry leaders, decision makers and leading youth organizations to discuss transformative ideas, and design policy solutions that shape the development and use of technology systems in today’s world.

Global Shapers Port-Harcourt Hub, an initiative of World Economic Forum, is a community of young people who are leading transformational social change in the society, by providing new and innovative solutions to the various problems plaguing our world. Based in Nigeria, we are committed to improving the state of the world, and affiliated to a network of 16,000+ young people from 152 countries who are at the heart of solution-building, policy-making and driving lasting change.

With the advent of social media and digital technologies, mental health care has taken a new turn. While these technologies offer new opportunities for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders, they also pose significant risks for individuals and society.

Africa has an estimated total population of over 1.4 billion people across its 55 Countries, for which only 22 percent of the continent has access to internet connectivity. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), this “prevents the continent from taking full advantage of digital technology's ability to mitigate some of the worst effects of the pandemic”.

African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is the world’s largest free trade area bringing together the 55 countries of the African Union (AU) and eight (8) Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to create a single market for the continent. This sub-theme recognizes the importance of promoting a favorable business environment and leveraging technology to enhance trade facilitation and economic integration, with a particular focus on the prospects of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

African Youth Partnership Forum
Friday, 30th June 2023 at 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm (West Africa Time-zone GMT+1)

In this session, we will have keynote speeches delivered by top officials from the World Economic Forum, Global Shapers Community and other Global institutions. This Partnership Forum is designed to promote peer-to-peer networking among the members and leaders of various youth-led organizations in the Africa region. They will come together to discuss, network and foster meaningful partnerships and collaborations. Also, our post-summit plan will be unveiled during the closing plenary session.
